Shrimp Étouffée

Serves 4-6 people

 

Ingredients

  • 1 Stick Unsalted Butter
  • 2 Medium Onions Chopped
  • 1 Celery Rib Chopped
  • 3 Garlic Cloves Minced
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Jalapeno minced
  • 2 Tablespoons Flour
  • 1 14oz Can Peeled Chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 Tablespoon Paprika
  • ½ Teaspoon Salt
  • ½ Teaspoon Pepper
  • Pinch Cayenne
  • 2 lb. Medium Shrimp Peeled & Deveined
  • 4 Scallions Chopped
  • ½ Cup Parsley Chopped
  • Rice Cooked

Preparation

  1. Melt Butter in Dutch oven or large pan
  2. Add onion and celery. Sauté over medium heat until translucent, 8-10 minutes. Add garlic and continue cooking for 2-5 minutes. 
  3. Start Rice.
  4. Add flour to onion, celery, garlic, stir 3-5 minutes
  5. Add tomatoes, paprika, salt & pepper, cayenne. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Add Shrimp and cook 4-6 minutes until shrimp is cooked through. 
  7. Add Scallions & Parsley Serve over Rice.
