Pizza Friday
Pizza is the best way to celebrate Friday night and the end of the work week!
Pizza Friday
Ready in 20 minutes
Serves 8 people
Ingredients
- 1 dough ball
- Regular or Spicy Italian sausage
- 1 Red or Orange bell pepper
- Olive Oil
- 2-3 tablespoons pizza sauce
- Garlic Powder
- Red Pepper Chili Flakes (optional)
- Pizza Seasoning
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Arugula
Preparation
- Pre-heat grill.
- Brown sausage, drain on paper towel.
- Char pepper on grill, turning to get all sides toasty (and yes, even blackened). Set aside.
- Divide dough ball in 4 equal parts. Roll out each on a floured surface to approximately 8” round. These do not need to be perfect.
- Brush dough with olive oil on both sides. Sprinkle with garlic, Pizza seasoning, and chili flakes.
- Carefully place on grill. You may need to do these in batches depending on your grill size. Cook 2-3 minutes and turn over for another 2-3. Remove to cookie sheet and continue with remaining dough.
- Peel & de-seed pepper, cut into strips.
- Brush now cooked dough with pizza sauce. Top with sausage, pepper strips and mozzarella.
- Place pizzas back on grill, preferably off direct heat, until cheese melts.
- Top with arugula and enjoy.
Tips
If you are like my husband and don’t like the hot things touching the cold things, serve the arugula as a side salad with a nice lemon vinaigrette and some grape tomatoes.
