It’s strawberry season and I just splurged making delicious homemade strawberry jam in my Pampered Chef Deluxe Cooking Blender

No, Pampered Chef Deluxe Cooking Blender is not your ordinary blender. Not only does it cook but it also cleans itself. Yes, it’s true and you read that right…it cleans itself.
So Worth It!
Fun Fact: I actually traded in my Vitamix Blender so I could get this beauty. You can check out my PC Cooking Blender post to learn about all the yummy things I have made in it. Soups, marinara, peanut butter, and yes, smoothies. That peanut butter was a breeze to clean out because the Heated Wash Setting did all the work.
It seems that each year when strawberries are coming in season, I go on a pilgrimage to find the sweetest of them all. Growing up, my parents would bring home semi-ripe strawberries that you always had to dip into sugar to make them palatable. I grew up not really liking them because I thought they were naturally bitter.
As I grew older and found farmer’s markets, I learned that these little red rubies could be sweeter than the sugar I used to dip them in.
This year, I was able to bring home the sweetest, picked that morning, red strawberries and in less than an hour, I had homemade strawberry jam and everything cleaned up so I could enjoy the fruits of my labor (pun intended), which wasn’t much labor at all.
I remember when I had made blueberry jam years ago and it felt like it was so labor-intensive, I wasn’t sure I wanted to take this on but after purchasing 5 quarts of strawberries, that wouldn’t last long, I was determined to make something yummy.
I also wanted something easy. I know my husband would rather me make a Strawberry-Rhubarb pie but I haven’t quite mastered the pie thing yet, unless you count Pumpkin. I make a great pumpkin pie.
Anyway, back to Strawberry Jam and its wonderful scent wafting through the house while it cooked in the blender. So simple and I had it jarred in less than an hour. Make sure your jars are clean (just pop them in the dishwasher) and dry them before filling them with the jam. Cool slightly before putting the lids on and store in the fridge (1 month) or freezer (up to 6 months).

You can also make a lower sugar version but you need to make sure to have the correct pectin.
Did you know that sugar prevents bacteria from growing? Sugar is a natural preservative. While I don’t see this batch of jam lasting long enough to go bad, the high sugar content means that I can keep it for up to 1 month in the fridge or 6 months in the freezer.
I actually made a second batch of jam for gifts.
