Caprese Burgers

Fresh summer tomatoes, basil and mozzarella make this a favorite in our home. This is so good with or without the bun.

Serves 4 people

 

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs. 70% lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • ¼ cup chopped basil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • ½ tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices tomato
  • 4 slices fresh mozzarella
  • 4 Brioche Buns
  • Additional Basil for Garnish

Preparation

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat, lightly grease the grate. 
  2. Mix together beef, tomato paste, basil, garlic, parmesan, balsamic, and pepper.
  3. Form 4 patties.
  4. Cook on grill until desired doneness. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 160 degrees F.
  5. Top each burger with mozzarella and allow to melt
  6. Serve on buns with tomato and garnish with additional chopped basil.
  7. Serve with side salad, Italian Baked Beans or fries.
