Meal Planning & Prepping: Why We Love It
If you have ever felt overwhelmed looking at Pinterest for Meal Prep ideas, you are not alone. You start off great or maybe the thought of spending an entire day or weekend is so overwhelming, you decide not to even start.
I am pretty lazy by nature (at least that is what my father always told me) so if I can figure out ways to get meals on the table and more ME time, then I am all for it.
Meal planning & prepping doesn’t have to be overly complicated or take up your whole weekend.
I often do some of my meal prep throughout the week. Dinners usually only take me about 20-30 minutes from start to table and I get to enjoy some quiet time to read my latest O Magazine or read a book.
Method to my Madness
I have been meal planning since I was a child. I would flip through cookbooks, planning dinner parties (for my family), and create some fun combos.
I still love planning a week’s worth of meals and finding ways to make life a little simpler.
The result is more time with my family at the table and the only electronics near the dinner table is the one used to take a quick snapshot of the plate. The rest of the meal is spent enjoying a yummy meal and great conversation.
KISS (Keep it simple, smarty!)
I don’t believe in overcomplicating things. Meals should be enjoyable not a task that makes you want to run screaming into the night. Our bodies are temples and while we may rent them out to demons periodically, we should be nourishing it as much as possible.
We do our best to purchase and grow organic whole foods and limit processed food. Now, I am not perfect! Set a chocolate cake with buttercream frosting in front of me and I will be your best friend. I have a weakness for tortilla chips and fresh-baked bread.
While I would love to see grocery carts filled with fresh fruits and produce, I know that many people are trying to save money and time and just want something on the table that their family will eat.
My goal is to help you create simple meal plans that can be incorporated into your week and leave you more time for other enjoyments like your family and time for yourself.
